While its players have been reportedly working on the project for some time, it seems the3rd Secretalbum release came together quickly, per a note posted tothe band’s website. “Reports coming over3rd Secret hotlinethat album is still not on Apple Music,” read the statement, which directed fans to listen via YouTube in the meantime. “Please be patient as work was uploaded Saturday night and needs time to get to streaming platforms.”
Novoselic let fans know there was a mysterious album on the way in a since-deleted tweet posted in February. “I am really busy trying to finish a record. In the middle of some hangups — looking for a mid-March release,” he wrote, perNME. “But it’s a secret, so don’t tell anybody.”
Last month, Thayil gave an on-camera interview toLifeminuteand spoke about the prospects of working on music with Cameron and their former Soundgarden bandmate, bass player Ben Shepherd. “I think the three of us have an interest in doing new things,” he told the outlet. “We certainly like working together.”
Cameron’s 2022 is shaping up to be a busy year, as he’ll hit the road with Pearl Jam in May for a string ofNorth American arena tour dates originally slated for 2020. “Thank you, Pearl Jam fans, for your patience and flexibility as we have waited to reschedule the band’s postponed 2020 North American tour,” read a statement posted to the band’s website in November 2021. “For nearly two years, the band has wanted nothing more than to play their new music live for you. The whole Pearl Jam team shares your excitement for us all to be safely on the road again together.”
