Miranda Lambertkept her relationship withnew husbandBrendan McLoughlina secret for over three months — and it all began in New York City, a source tells PEOPLE.
The insider confirms that the pair first met on Friday, Nov. 2, when Lambert appeared with herPistol Annies’ bandmatesAshley MonroeandAngaleena Presleyon that day’s episode ofGood Morning America.
GMAfilms in Times Square, where McLoughlin, 27, works as apolice officer with the New York Police Department. The NYPD confirmed to PEOPLE that McLoughlin is currently assigned to the South Midtown Precinct, which includes the area where Lambert, 35, performed on the day she met her future husband.
Later that night, Lambert performed with the Pistol Annies at a concert in N.Y.C.’s The Town Hall, which is located just one block away from whereGMAfilms.

The officer, who’s been with the NYPD since 2013, has been known to work crowd control following concerts in the area.
In April of last year, one Twitter usermessaged the NYPDafter having seen McLoughlin outside Madison Square Garden and noted the officer’s good looks, remarking, “If he’s single tell him to contact me LOL.”
Another 2015 tweet also shows a uniformed McLoughlinworking in Times Square.
A rep for the singer previously confirmed to PEOPLE that their nuptials had happened a while ago.
“In honor of Valentine’s Day I wanted to share some news. I met the love of my life. And we got hitched!” Lambertwroteon Instagram, alongside two sweet photos from their happy day.
“My heart is full. Thank you Brendan McLoughlin for loving me for…. me,” she continued, adding a red heart emoji and the sweet hashtag “theone.”

For her happy day, Lambert wore an elegant long-sleeve lace dress fromLela Rose Bridal.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to see @mirandalambert in our ‘Canyon’ wedding dress,” read an Instagram post from the bridal designer, which was posted on Sunday alongside a pair of sweet images from Lambert’s happy day. “Such a beautiful bride!”
In an exclusive image Lambert shared with PEOPLE from their wedding, the gown’s romantic plunging neckline is also visible.

Just hours before sharing the happy news with the world, the pair were also spotted out in New York City’s SoHo district, smiling as they walked and held hands outside, with their wedding bands on full display.
“They looked happy and natural holding hands strolling sidewalk,” an onlooker told PEOPLE of the two, who were “stopping to look in windows and smiling.” And Lambert, who was proudly sporting the new hardware, couldn’t have seemed happier: “She was beaming and protectively holding her ring finger,” added the onlooker.
In all, said the onlooker, “They looked like a couple going on a date in the city.”
This is the second marriage for Lambert, who was previously married toBlake Shelton, before their divorce in 2015. Since then, she has dated singersAnderson EastandEvan Felker, before finding love again with McLoughlin.
