Kelly RipaandMark Consuelosare weighing in on a trending wedding topic.
On Wednesday’s episode ofLive with Kelly & Mark, the married co-hosts discussed the growing popularity of “manlier,” personalized rings for grooms, and shared their hot takes.
“I’m from the era where you just got a simple band. I like the simple band,” Consuelos said, holding up his hand to show off his own wedding ring. “But guys now are saying that they want to embellish a little bit.”
“They want a bauble,” Ripa, 53, added in agreement.

Consuelos then explained that some men are opting to feature “their favorite superhero” on their ring.
“Batman, Superman, Spider-Man,” he rattled off, as Ripa rolled her eyes, clearly not a fan.
Her husband wasn’t onboard with the trend, either. “So men out there, if you get anything superhero or a decoder ring, you’re telling your wife that she’s marrying a child,” he joked.
“Right. You took the words right out of my mouth,” Ripa quipped in response.
Consuelos' final verdict on the ring trend? “Just go with the single band.”
Ripa suggested a little compromise. “You could also just have a cartoon character etched on the inside of the ring. Wile E. Coyote chasing the Road Runner, or whatever.”
“If that makes you happy,” Consuelos said. “Just the knowledge that it’s against your skin.”
He added, “Mine would be Mighty Mouse — no, Speedy Gonzales.”
As the conversation wrapped up, Ripa noted that she does appreciate “men wearing a statement ring” — only, her tastes run a little more sophisticated. She explained that the couple has a friend who sports a statement ring, but “he’s not wearing a Ring Pop, he’s not wearing a secret decoder ring, he’s wearing a diamond ring.”

Back in 2022, Ripa revealed that she and her husband spent just $179 on their 1996 nuptials. The couple opted to fly out toLas Vegasand elope there. “It really is such an efficient way to get married. And it was fun. We were like, ‘Now,thisis gambling! Woohoo!'” she recalled during an episode ofLive.
She admitted that she thinks if she and Consuelos “had to endure a large wedding, the planning and the seating charts and the venue — we would not have made it [to the wedding].”
“There would have been hard feelings and blame all over the place,” she explained. “And I can honestly say, we do not feel less married. As a matter of fact, we feel more married than those people, because we’re still married.”
