In a lot of version of the Batman level , he ’s an “ urban caption ” — nobody has ever visit him or photographed him , and few even trust he exists . But could that even work , with surveillance cameras and cameraphones everywhere ?

Even if Gotham had constabulary surveillance and CCTV , you do n’t think Batman would know where the cameras were ? And / or be capable to hack into the system to remove any footage that may show him ? I ’m sure the batcomputer would have a dedicated algorithm to do precisely that .

I do n’t know where you ’re from , but here in NYC , there are several cameras on literally every occlusion in Manhattan . The cop have them on the lamp situation and other hidden locations and private business all monitor their door and blind spots . Some record a flow , others are monitored by a hold up mortal . I would think Gotham would be the same .
I suppose in a fancied world , a guy like Bruce Wayne would know where every unmarried one is and has a way of deactivating many hundreds of them each night … Or can spend the meter roll up the images before someone go through them . But in the virtual world … ?

Yeah … this is n’t the practical worldly concern , though , it ’s a mirthful book world with flying unknown and magic lassos . I do n’t think he ’d need to deactivate them … just have the batcomputer run away a uninterrupted program to delete any footage of him they might inadvertently pip . Batman would n’t even postulate to reckon about it … the batcomputer takes forethought of it for him .

Batman is n’t a ‘ brawl in the middle of the street ’ sort of guy . Batman ’s a back alley , from the shadows , from above guy . Most , if not all , CCTV cameras point down to the street / ground . Generally they ’re not more than a storey up in the air . Its not out of the kingdom of practicality that Batman is able to head off CCTV when CCTV in general monitor the master areas people go , not all the benighted corners or back alleys . And then on top of that , people monitor them are imperfect . Places book over footage . masses monitor them are n’t give attention . They also only have set imagination angles . Its not out of the realm of things for Batman to incapacitate the few security cameras that he might have to deal with .

Lest we leave that the musical phrase “ urban fable ” does n’t necessarily mean he has n’t been catch on camera at all . “ No one has ever taken his picture show ” could just mean that nobody has a full build snapshot of him in the batsuit standing there . People might still have blurry shots , partial action shots , etc . similar to how people have “ pictures ” of aliens , UFOs , and bigfoot .
Also , we see in The Dark Knight movies that Bruce Wayne had devices that could kill the light and kill the batteries on cars / bike . I certainly think that leaves launch the possibility of pocket-sized EMPs or video scrambler . CCTVs are n’t really known to be top - of - the - line equipment
