Living creatures do n’t live forever but ideas can . They may shift , variety , orget misinterpretedalong the agency , but approximation remain long after the citizenry who had them are gone . That ’s a central theme in the new filmKingdom of the Planet of the Apes , specially when it comes to the enfranchisement ’s most important character , Caesar .
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is primarily set hundreds of years after the events of the former Apes moving picture , War for the Planet of the Apes . In that one , the first smart ape and leaderCaesar dies after helping his tribe escape to a new family . Apes as they are would n’t survive without Caesar — but in Kingdom , most do n’t even know who Caesar was . It was that estimation of ideas and beliefs being hold across generation thatwas crucial to the cinema ’s theater director .
“ That was the interesting idea because of the time parachuting , ” Kingdom music director Wes Ball told io9 . “ In our own human history , we ’ve had deal of lost knowledge . We make these bully find , and then we fall behind it , and someone rediscover it . I love the idea [ that ] there was a dark historic period after Caesar give-up the ghost and many things were lose . And how it can split . There ’s even a deleted picture somewhere that had to cut for metre , unfortunately , but we talk about that a little bit , the rent that fall out . ”

The split Ball is talking about is embodied in two characters in the film . There ’s Raka , an orangutan who is try out to keep the original , mean word of Caesar alive . Then there ’s Proximus Caesar , a vicious swayer who weaponizes Caesar ’s ideas for his own gain . Both preach the word and legacy of Caesar , but one does so in the way he specify and the other does not . Then , in between both of them , is the chief fictitious character , Noa .
“ Noa , this refreshful , vacuous Sir Frederick Handley Page that sets off on this escapade of self - breakthrough and discovery for the world around him , he draw to be work by these two theme , ” Ball say . “ It ’s give-up the ghost to mold him into the future going ahead . Who he ’s going to become is because of the father figures that add up and go from his animation in this movie , including his interaction with homo themselves . So it just felt like the right musical theme to wager around with ideas and the concept of truth and how frail it is . ”
