Ray Bradbury ’s famous 1953 novel Fahrenheit 451 is getting a feature - distance update . HBO is set to make a new movie adaptation of the book , direct by Ramin Bahrani and co - starring Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon .
Jordan will play Guy Montag , a firefighter who burns books in a dystopian future tense where such things are outlawed . He then has a change of nub and feuds with his foreman , Beatty , act by Shannon .
Legendary film producer François Truffaut adapt the novel himself in a 1966 film and the idea of another remaking has been kicking around for some time . Mel Gibson was even attach at some percentage point . But now it falls to HBO , Jordan , Shannon , and Bahrani — the latter two having recently worked together on another film with societal - comment themes , 99 Homes .
There ’s no countersign when the film would air out , but 2018 seems like a jolly safe bet .
