This new robot was shown off in Japan yesterday by Danish research worker Hautop Lund . The ATRON is design to be completely modular , able-bodied to reconfigure itself into one of 100 dissimilar shapes with corresponding motions , from serpent - similar slithering to walk to roll . Each nexus communicate with the others via an infrared tie and is ego - power — they can even help level a weak unit but using their racing shell as a director . ( Thanks , Kaspar ! )
