I saw this picture yesterday and I just could n’t tell what the hell it was . So I read the legend and it left me even more nonplussed :

STS-125 astronaut Andrew Feustel selects his next shaft to use while take part in the first of five scheduled spacewalks to perform last hands - on service of the Hubble Space Telescope . Feustel and oldtimer spaceman John Grunsfeld ( out of frame ) are schedule to enter in three of those spacewalks .

Tools ? What tools ? Can you see any tools in there ? I have hear to decipher what tools are those and I just ca n’t identify any individual one of them .

Sure , I was n’t expect a bunch of Allen key and Torx screwdrivers to fix the Hubble , but these thing look like fake devices from a B - series sci - fi film . And now that we are at it , can somebody explain to me how can they make any sentiency of that self-aggrandising mess ? Apparently , astronauts just marry their material in big balls of junk . Seriously , these guys are astonishing . [ NASA ]
