While his iconic roles in films likeThe Godfathertrilogy,ScarfaceandThe Panic in Needle Parkcemented his name in the Hollywood canon, Pacino will open up about life beyond the screen in his new book. The actor will discuss his childhood in the Bronx, as well as his early artistic inclinations. After a teacher saw his promise as an actor and led him to the High School of Performing Arts in New York, Pacino found a passion for the craft.

Sonny Boywill also detail Pacino’s legendary career, from his days in avant-garde New York theater to his most famous roles and collaborations. The book further highlights the “the spirit of love and purpose” that have guided Pacino, per the book’s description.

The memoir will be published in hardcover, ebook and audiobook formats, with Pacino narrating the audiobook himself.

Pacino has been nominated for the Academy Award nine times, for films likeThe Godfather,Dog Day AfternoonandThe Irishman. He won an Oscar in 1992 for his role as Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade inScent of a Woman, and has also won four Golden Globe Awards and two Tony Awards. He has additionally earned accolades such as a Kennedy Center Honor, the American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement Award and the National Merit of Arts from PresidentBarack Obama.

InSonny Boy,Pacino will provide a fascinating glimpse into his life.“My whole life has been a moonshot, and I’ve been a pretty lucky guy so far,” he says.
